Workshops Available to Prepare for May 17 Event
FREDERICK, Md.— Frederick County Government’s Division of Human Resources is hosting a spring Career Resource and Job Fair on Friday, May 17, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Prospect Center, 585 Himes Avenue, Frederick. Interpretive services will be available.
In partnership with Frederick County Workforce Services (FCWS), this event incorporates accessibility to career readiness resources, support with the help of County Career Ambassadors, and an opportunity to speak with a diverse range of county divisions about numerous vacancies at all career stages. Participating industries include administration, human services, public safety, technology, and trades such as vehicle repair, facility maintenance, and highway services.
The County recognizes that joining the workforce or changing jobs and careers can be both overwhelming and challenging. Staff will host several workshops before and after the job fair to offer job seekers one-on-one support and provide them a positive job fair and application experience. Advanced registration is recommended for all workshops and the job fair.
First, FCWS is facilitating Navigating a Job Fair workshops that focus on strategies to use before, during, and after the job fair.
- Wednesday, May 8, from 10-11 a.m. at Frederick County Workforce Services
- Friday, May 10, from 10-11 a.m. at Frederick County Workforce Services
These workshops will also include tips for interviews, resumes, and cover letters.
Additionally, job seekers looking for assistance with the application process are invited to attend Apply WITH Us Drop-In Sessions throughout the county. Staff will offer one-on-one application support, but please note, these workshops are not intended to explore eligibility for specific employment opportunities within the County.
- Tuesday, May 21, from 9 a.m.-noon at Frederick County Workforce Services
- Thursday, May 23, from 1-4 p.m. at Middletown Library
- Wednesday, May 29, from 1-4 p.m. at C. Burr Artz Library
- Thursday, May 30, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Walkersville Library
Individuals are encouraged to come to these workshops and the job fair prepared with access to their resumes, certifications, and any other supplemental information they would like to attach to their job application. Chromebooks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
