Residential Fire Sprinkler Requirement
Ordinance 06-26-422 requires a fire sprinkler system for all new residential occupancies including, but not limited to, 1 or 2-family dwellings, modular dwellings and mobile homes, applied for on or after July 1, 2007.
The Residential Fire Sprinkler Ordinance 06-26-422 was adopted on July 20, 2006 by the Board of County Commissioners. Further details regarding this requirement can be found in the Fire Sprinkler Notice and Ordinance below.

The Office of Life Safety administers the Frederick County Fire Code as it relates to the permitting and development review process. The office issues and inspects fire systems permits including suppression and fire alarm systems and reviews life safety requirements for site plans and non-residential building permits.
