Want to learn how recycling works? Or about where your trash goes? Or find ways to waste less, like composting? Or other related topics? We're here to help!

Educational Outreach Services

The Division of Solid Waste and Recycling offers a variety of free educational outreach services to the local community to help residents learn more about wasting less. We can provide:

  • Guest speakers for community organization/club meetings or business gatherings
  • Tours of the DSWR facilities (for adults and students in grades 7 and up)
  •  Free recycling education kits for students in grades K-2 or grades 3-5
  • General information about recycling or waste reduction
  • Staff trainings for businesses that recycle
  • How-to programs for home composting
  • Display materials for loan
  • Staff and exhibit displays for community events

If you are interested in any of these services, please send email to recycle@frederickcountymd.gov. You can also download and submit our Request for Outreach Services form to begin a program reservation.


Event Recycling Containers

In addition to these services, we offer a limited number of event recycling containers available for loan to community event organizers. If you are looking for ways for your gathering to go green, give us a call at 301-600-2960 or send an email.
