Redistricting Commission

The Redistricting Commission is the body vested with the authority to review current council district boundaries to make recommendations to the Council of suggested changes to those district boundaries in order to guarantee equal voter representation through equal, or equivalent, population counts.

The Redistricting Commission shall be composed of up to nine (9) members. Three (3) registered Democratic voters of the County to be selected by the Democratic State Central Committee of Frederick County, three (3) registered Republican voters of the County to be selected by the Republican State Central Committee of Frederick County, and the Council shall appoint two or three additional members of the Commission, as the case may be, who are unaffiliated with any political party for at least two years prior to the date of appointment, to ensure that its total membership equals an odd number.
