Senior Services Advisory Board

History and Purpose

In 1965, the Board of County Commissioners conducted a survey of the needs of the older citizens throughout Frederick County. Based upon the results of this survey, the Board of County Commissioners established the Frederick County Commission on Aging in December 1965. In 2018 the Commission on Aging became the Senior Services Advisory Board. The purpose of the Board is to advise the County Executive and the Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence on all matters relating to development and administration of the area plan and operations conducted hereunder, and to be advocates for issues relating to aging.

Meeting Schedule

Senior Services Advisory Board meetings are open to the public. 
The meetings are held on the second Monday every month at 1:00 p.m. at the Bourne Building, 355 Montevue Lane, Frederick, MD 21702.

Listening Sessions

During September 2023, the Board offered seniors and caregivers an opportunity to share their needs and concerns about successfully living-well-in-place by hosting listening sessions across the County.

Members

The Board is composed of 11 voting members, all residents and registered voters of Frederick County. There are also non-voting Ex-Officio members. Members serve staggered terms of 3 years.

The Senior Services Advisory Board is always interested in qualified advocates for seniors to serve on the board as vacancies occur. The County Executive appoints members. If you would like to apply to be a member, send a letter of interest, along with your resume to:
