Historic Preservation Commission
Residents are encouraged to consider attending the public meetings held if interested in this Board. If you have expertise in this topic, please consider applying for a seat. Frederick County would appreciate your perspective and service.
Commission's Purpose
The Historic Preservation Commission’s (HPC) primary focus is to review structures and sites for historic significance, review all petitions for designation to the Frederick County Register of Historic Places, and submit recommendations to the County Council. The HPC also reviews applications for Certificates of Approval.
Meeting Times
Meetings are held monthly on the first Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Individuals requiring accommodations for a disability or language translation should email the Commission at Historic@FrederickCountyMD.gov or dial 711 for Maryland Relay Services at least three (3) working days prior to the meeting.
Please note that a part or all of a meeting may be conducted in closed session.

How to Get Involved
The Commission has 7 members. Appointments occur on a rolling basis and as positions open. Non-members are encouraged to attend and participate in activities. Commission members are subject to the provisions of the Frederick County Ethics Ordinance.
Procedure for Appointment
The County Executive shall appoint members, subject to County Council confirmation. Members serve 3-year terms. If your qualifications match current openings, please apply by sending your letter of interest along with a current resume to FCGBoards@FrederickCountyMD.gov.
